Front brakes and Tires on

Well finally got all my rotors back with studs in and it was off to the garage to put everything on to see how it looked. What should of been a hour job turned into a almost three. Everything up front was all ready to go all I had to do was put the bearings in the rotors and then put them on. Well it seems the QC for the Empi stuff isn't that good. Some grinding was needed to get everything to fit right. But as you can see it all came together pretty good. As with the back it looks like I may need some spacers in the front as well, I don't think my turning radius is as good as it should be. This is pretty much it for the pan, it's back to the body again.My suicide hinge kit should be here the start of next week :-)

Rear Disc Brakes

I spent today removing cleaning and installing the new rear disc brakes. Everything went on pretty smooth. These tires and rims are pretty large, 18x8 low profile. I've run 17x7's before without and mods anywhere but these I wasn't sure about and from what most people said they won't work on a bug. These came off a bug from Florida so I know they'll work but wasn't sure of the mods that might have to be done. From what I can tell from measuring outside tire to outside the tires should still fit with-in the fenders. The only problem I did see is the inside of the tires are to close to where the rubber stop hits the top near the rear shock. So I'll have to do some checking to see if I need to use that rubber stopper or if I can trim the tops off at the shock tower.

Floor Time

It was time for a change, off the body for awhile and onto the floor. First I had to pull the trans so I could change the bowden tube which was all cracked. Cleaned the floor up and sprayed it with a coat of Rust Encapsulator to keep the rust at bay.
Tomorrow I'll try and get to the rear disc brakes.

Rear Quarters

A whole weekend in the garage and it doesn't seem like I got much done. I started with cleaning up the area inside behind the quarter glass.
After this I started working on the rear apron. I needed to clean the edges up and weld some stonger edges because I want to be able to remove this anytime I need to do any engine work.
Removed all the paint from the dash, under the dash plus the deck lid itself.
Filled in the holes under the rear seat area as we won't be running any heat in this car.

Back at it

Well it's been a long winter and the cars been put on hold, till this week.
First was the rear deck lid, I needed to put relief cuts along each side of the lid so it would shut right.
Next I had to weld on the row of clips that run along the door pillars due to someone cutting them off at some point.
After that it was off to the inside to finish the rest of the grinding.

Megasquirt 2 just came in and Built

My Megasquirt II just came in the other day and I thought I would get a spot ready in the basement to put it all together. The Megasquirt is a Engine Management System, I will be able to monitor everything on the engine through a computer, boost, O2 sensor, temp sensor, tach/crank position input and fuel injection if I ever change to that.

Since the weather this week has been into the -18 to -24 having something to inside has been nice.

It's been slow, this is the first time I've built any kind of board like this. With about 160 different components I think I'll take my time to make sure it done right.

I've put a couple hours into all ready but have come to a part where i need to test what I've done so far and the Stimulator Board I need to do that hasn't come yet.
All the parts are here that I need to build the Stimulator board, which I've done now and as you can see I have finished main board itself.
Ran a test and everything seems to work just fine.

More roof work

After looking at the roof I wasn't happy with a few parts of it, so it was back to work on it. After a few more nights and a weekend on it I think finally it looks good. To bad it's gotten to cold to hit it with a coat primer.

I was also able to get the front apron cleaned up from the black stuff they spray on the new body medal. Plus removed the paint from the front and rear.
